| Dire Straits are pure greatness, Hort.  As for me, I'm kinda into a lot of rootsy indie stuff. One of my favorite bands, which some of you may have heard of by now, is The Black Keys. These guys are awesome: one of the few bands, in my opinion, that have soul, not to mention they play a killer live show. Here's a small live performance of one of the songs off their third album, "Magic Potion:" The Black Keys - Your TouchAnother band I've recently gotten into is The Parlor Mob. The only way I can describe these guys is if The White Stripes and Wolfmother had a kid and the kid kicked the crap out of the parents and went to stay at Granddaddy Led Zeppelin's house. | Okidoke, as anyone who is ever on when I'm around knows, I love music. I consider myself a music whore and have 30 gigs of the stuff on me at all times to fit every possible mood. So now I will post a few bands that I positively love but which few people have heard of. 1. The World Inferno Friendship Society - a very interesting sound, often upbeat and historical. great to just listen to or help get your mind going. I suggest the song "All of California and everyone who lives there stinks". 2. Rasputina - cellos have never rocked so hard. They have upbeat and fast songs and more mellow ones to fit more somber moods. I suggest the songs "Barracuda" or "Rock & Roll". 3. Reel Big Fish - ska is always good if you need a pick me up or are just in a "fuck it" mood. and this band fits that role to a tee. The song "brand new song" always brings a smile to my lips. 4. Two Ton Boa - an odd band. punk rock with NO GUITAR. Has two bass instead. Love their song "cyanide". Well, those are some quick suggestions. if anyone gives me some nice feedback maybe i'll share more of my list. and i know there are no links, half the joy is finding things yourself  | |
